"Did Jesus Just Happen" The Life of Christ

There are few doctrines of greater importance to the child of God than the doctrine of the Judgment Seat of Christ. If we to examine the life of the Apostle Paul, we would find that the controlling factor in his daily life and experience was his anticipation and expectation of meeting the Lord at this judgment. Every step he took, every act he performed, every ministry he carried on, he did anticipating a day of reckoning at the Judgment Seat of Christ. we need the Spirit of God upon our hears and minds to instruct us as we consider this question. What the Judgment Seat is?. Why are we there? Who will be there" What will be the result?

First, let us look into the record given to us in 11 Cor. 5: 9-10. We find the Apostle addressing believers. Let me say this emphatically; to those who have not accepted Christ as personal Lord and savior, some day these individuals will stand before Christ at the Great White Throne Judgment. The, we, in the Apostles mind is easily identified if we will go back into this chapter and see those to whom the Apostle is speaking. We in the first verse is speaking of those who have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. This could not have reference tot he unsaved, for the unsaved have no habitation in heaven but will be separated from God "for ever". We in verse 4 is speaking of those for whom mortality might be swallowed up of life, that is, this body, being made subject to death and decay because of Adam's sin, is going to be resurrected and glorified. We in verse 5 are those who have received the earnest of the Spirit, the foretaste of the down payment of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells only believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. The we in verse 8 are those who some day will be absent from the body, but present with the Lord. This has reference only to believers in the Lord Jesus. So we see from the whole context the Apostle is not speaking of an event for unsaved but an event that relates to those who are the Son's of God by faith in Jesus Christ. "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not make with hands, eternal in the heavens. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan being burdened, not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up in life. Now he that hath wrought us for the self same thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 11 Cor. 5: 1,4,5,&8.
